What X'uno knows of his very early childhood is mostly second and third hand, with plenty of guesswork - Stranded as a baby during a suspected skirmish between the Seeker clans and the Empire, he spent his earliest days in Martrjve in Bozja in a homeless encampment with other war orphans and refugees. As chance should have it, an Au Ra couple fleeing the wartorn Doma found him crying among the hungry and kinless and took him in despite their own bleak circumstances.After saving enough money through grunt work to charter passage to Werlyt, his parents' journey ended in Terncliff among the Hyur and Au Ra settlements there. Having been artisans in their homeland, his parents soon opened their own business, a small shop where they made umbrellas - From artisinal parasols meant for beauty to sturdy tools made for keeping out the worst weather. They lived very happily, though simply there for many years, keeping their heads down from the constant Empire presence.When X'uno was twenty, tragedy struck in the form of Imperial soldiers storming into his house in the middle of the night and dragging his parents to the Castrum along with dozens of other refugees - Officially suspected of treason. His parents had nothing to do with the small resistance in Terncliff but were executed along with everyone else all the same, as proof of the might of the Empire.Traumatized and terrified he would be next, X'uno managed to use his skills as an artisan to bluff his way into an airship making their way out of Ilsabard and down the coast of Ala Mihgo, under the guise of a traveling merchant. He did not stay in Ala Mhigo long, eager to get out from under the thumb of the Empire, and soon smuggled himself onto a ship bound for the Gridanian coast. The journey was rough, and X'uno was nearly discovered many times, but he made it to the shores of Eorzea unscathed, with nothing to his name but his pet boar Baobao, and what few of his parents' pieces he had managed to save from their shop and hadn't had to sell to make his way.For several years Uno worked as a freelance artisan in Gridania, until witnessing a ritual by the conjurers to bring a wounded Wood Wailer back from the brink of death, where multiple healers worked tirelessly through the night to heal the man. Seeing the man sitting up and smiling after having been nearly lost to the Void awoke something in Uno, jolting him out of the apathetic haze he had been living in since his escape from the Empire, and he joined the conjurer's guild the very next day.Day to day Uno is a apothecary and a healer by trade, selling the herbs he grows in his garden and dedicating hours of study to discovering natural remedies - A passion he slowly cultivated while growing out of the darkness after his parents' deaths. Having become disillusioned with the insidious two-faced environment of the Conjurer's Guild, he formally left the guild without officially completing his "training". He instead chose to enroll in university, where he obtained a degree in medicine. Despite his displeasure with the way Gridania is run, he lives in a small house which serves as his shopfront and infirmary in the Lavender Beds, as his anxiety acts up the further away he is from the little familiar life he has built for himself.He specializes in healing severe or long term injuries with a mix of traditional medicine and conjury, rather than in a pinch battlefield healing. All slighted by the Conjurer's Guild or labeled outcast by Gridanian society are welcome in his clinic for anything from a check-up to surgery, and he has quite a reputation among the downtrodden and misfit population for pro bono work, despite his unwillingness to see himself as doing anything more special than what anyone with his skills should be doing to heal and help.
